The Puddle is an element of the Disorient mythology.
Over the years the word Puddle has taken different meanings within Disorient:
2001
A state of consciousness of Disorienters i.e. "Man... I'm a puddle."
2002
A lounging configuration involving a flock of Disorienters. Puddles were the Disorient equivalent of chill-out areas at raves. Large Disorient events often have spaces dedicated to Puddling. This lead to the term Cuddle Puddle which later became widely used outside of Disorient.
2004-2009
The first Disorient web-based forum ran on phpBB. It was named Puddle as the virtual equivalent of our physical Puddles. The Puddle was vibrant. Around 2009 social networks drew us away from the Puddle. Many platforms (Asana, Facebook, Twitter, IG, Slack, etc.) used by Disorient could never replace the Puddle.
2010

2022-present
