2026 is Anno Disorienti Twenty Six (ADXXVi), the 26th year on the Disorient calendar.
Here are some possible directions for ADXXVi.

ADXXVi theme: Disorient Sbagliato

The cursor lands off-grid,
altering the expected arc
by a few pixels.

The melody adjusts itself.
As the signal drifts,
patterns reorient.

The inspiration for Disorient Sbagliato comes from a cocktail. Sbagliato means messed-up/missed in Italian.

While making a Negroni, an Italian bartender poured sparkling wine instead of gin and liked the result so much that he gave it a name: Negroni sbagliato (messed-up Negroni in Italian). That drink became a worldwide phenomenon and a great example of embracing a mistake, turning a bug into a feature, making it your way.

D26 (Disorient on playa)

Playa cover

- Rolls of woven PET instead of drop cloths to protect playa. They use this technique at Artery
- Power stapler/nailer instead of nails and washers
- Staples remover
- Invest in tools to help us save time

CoSign

- Pallet Rack used only to support CoSign, not for Club House
- Modify dimensions (slightly smaller in all dimensions) for easier storage inside container
- CoSign fabrication event (DGFT offered to host)
- Activate CoSign phase 2 (populating each pixel)

Bedouin Tent

- Second Bedouin Tent to create shade for new CH
- Some containers placed to open into Bedouin Tent
- Vibe: Comfy and intimate areas under Bedouin tent. Bottle service without bottles or service
- Candle Vibe is the visual signature of Bedouin Tent. Towards 10000 candles to overwhelm the space with warm, distributed light, so maybe aim for 4000 at D26?
- Enclosed space under tent provides protection and intimacy. Space needs to be enclosed. Use walls or large objects such as containers to enclose most of BT
- Use existing inflatables to create chandelier centerpiece around a tall pole
- Use A.R.T. C.A.R. W.A.S.H. letters to spell something else inside BT. Maybe CHARMERS?

Talks

- Talks need a more defined direction and tighter presentation
- Talks by DOers. Identify expertise within campers
- Visual anchor. Emulate the red dot of Ted Talks. A special rug or a large wooden sign behind the speaker?

Music and Sound

- Our niche: an intimate lounge with a great sound system
- We offer an intimate setting opportunity for DJs who come to the playa to play on large art cars, etc.
- Top quality sound and vibe a must
- Several speakers from the YME sound system stored in #2060 need to be repaired before D26
- Need protocol for starting/stopping music. Post schedule in DJ booth. Proposal: only 2 campers have the power to stop or start the music beyond what is described on the schedule. Any request to start/stop music must go through them.

Solar

Disorient keeps making progress with solar. The past couple of years have brought improvements to our solar setup and shows our desire to expand solar use but the solar cell needs help. To continue in this direction we make solar a higher priority at D26. A stack of solar panels made it to D25 but did not get deployed. Prioritizing solar means that those panels will get used at D26. We use our panels to:
1. Generate electricity to lower our gas consumption
and
2. Provide shade for our community by replacing some of the shade structures.

Structure to support solar panels between containers

To that end we design and implement a system of beams and columns to deploy solar panels across the top of our shipping containers. Keep installation/breakdown easy. Invest in dedicated components to streamline installation/breakdown. Keep connection/disconnection of solar panels to structure as simple as possible.
